Borre style

The Borre style ( or gripping Animal Style ) is a resultant from the 9th to 10th century style phase of early medieval art. It is named after the village of Borre in the Norwegian municipality hoarding. Characteristic of the style are animal and knot ornaments. It is followed by the Jellingestil.

The latter two are also in the design of early Christian Irish books to use and are understood here as Anglo-Saxon - Germanic and Celtic- Irish.
