Bouches-du-Rhône

The department of Bouches -du -Rhône ( [ buʃdyʀo ː n] to French bouche, mouth - mouth ') is a French department of atomic number 13 It is in the southeast of the country in the region Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur. Prefecture is Marseille, sub-prefectures are Aix -en- Provence, Arles and Istres.

Geography

The department is located in Provence along the Mediterranean and has a total of 280 kilometers of coastline. This is divided from east to west in the Côte d' Azur, the Côte Bleue and the Côte camarguaise. The department borders the departments of Gard on the west, Vaucluse on the north and the east Var. In the southwest of the department at Arles Camargue and Crau are the landscapes that are sparsely populated, and the small mountains of the Alpilles.
