Boulbon

Boulbon is a commune with 1535 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2007 ) in the department of Bouches -du -Rhône Provence -Alpes- Côte d' Azur region. It belongs to Arrondissement Arles, Tarascon with the canton and the Communauté d' agglomà Arles -Crau -Camargue - montagnette.

Geography

The community is located 15 kilometers south of Avignon and eight kilometers north of Tarascon. Boulbon is located right on the edge of the hills montagnette. The neighboring communities of Boulbon are Aramon in the north, Barbentane in the east, in the south Tarascon and Saint- Pierre -de- Mézoargues in the West.

History

The oldest human traces found are from the 2nd millennium BC. In the hamlet Pas -de- Bouquet to the municipal boundary of Boulbon and Tarascon is a Gallo- Roman site. It was destroyed in the 5th century.

The village Boulbon was first mentioned in 1003. Maybe the monks of the Abbey Montmajour began with the opening up of the plane. In the Middle Ages the village was dominated by its fortified castle.

Policy

In the presidential election of the far-right National Front was able to achieve good results always in Boulbon. In 2007, their candidate Jean -Marie Le Pen in Boulbon 20.6 % of the vote and was the second strongest candidate after election winner Nicolas Sarkozy, who came to 40.0%. The Socialist Ségolène Royal received only 13.3% of the vote. 2002 had even brought with 29.4 % the most votes in Le Pen. Jacques Chirac was at that time only 13.7%, Socialist Lionel Jospin came only to 7.6% of the vote.
