Boyacá Chicó F.C.

, Formerly called short Boyacá Chicó Fútbol Club Chicó FC, ​​is a Colombian football club based in Tunja. The origins date back to 1997, but in its present form, the club was founded in 2002 as Deportivo Bogotá Chicó FC in the capital Bogotá and named after the district in which he resided. After promotion to the first division in 2003, the club's management moved in 2004 both domiciled and the sports facilities at the invitation of the Government of the Province of Boyacá in the local provincial capital Tunja and has since called Boyacá Chicó Fútbol Club.

History

The club plays since 2004 without interruption in the first Colombian league. Together with the team of Club Deportivo Equidad Boyacá Chicó is the only team that could achieve promotion from the third to the first division in the Colombian football and the only club to have managed this with third - and second-division championships.

The greatest club success so far was to participate in the Copa Libertadores 2008 and 2009 and winning the league title in the Apertura 2008.

2011, the club reached the final of the Copa Colombia, but this lost against Millonarios.

Stadium

Boyacá Chicó completed its home games at the Estadio de La Independencia. The stadium was inaugurated in 2000 for basic renovations new and expanded in 2009 and now has a capacity of 25,000 seats.
