Brandy is the debut album of American R & B singer Brandy. It includes hits like I Wanna Be Down, Baby and Brokenhearted (feat. Wanya Morris). The album sold a total of 6 million copies.

Production

After Brandy 1993 at the age of 14, signed her first recording contract with Atlantic Records, she began with the producer Keith Crouch and Darryl Williams to work on her debut album selbstbenannten. While Crouch contributed most of the songs, wrote among other Rochad Holiday, Curtis Wilson and Kipper Jones. Norwood himself wrote three songs (I Dedicate trilogy). In addition to her Yo- Yo, Queen Latifah, Wanya Morris, Soulshock & Karlinnd and MC Lyte attacked for several remixes under the arms. The then-unknown Robin Thicke is the background voice for the majority of the songs.

Publication and criticism

Brandy was nominated for two Grammys ( Best Rap Performance by a Group, Best Female R & B Performance). The All Music Guide calls the album, among others, as cool and crisp, and her voice is compared to that of Janet Jackson and Mary J. Blige. There were also awards such as the Billboard Music Awards, MTV Video Music Award, or the Lady of Soul Train Award. The plate went directly into the Top 20 the U.S. Billboard charts and was awarded platinum four times. While the album was a success in the U.S. and in Australia, the album only in Germany rose to number 86.

I Wanna Be Down

I Wanna Be Down is the debut single by Brandy and was written by Keith Crouch and Kipper Jones. It was released as the lead single from the album on September 6, 1994. The song immediately reached the # 1 U.S. R & B / Hip- Hop charts. For this song has two videos were produced: one for the Human Rhythm Hip Hop remix version with Queen Latifah, MC Lyte & Yo- Yo (directed by Hype Williams ) and one for the original version (directed by Keith Ward). Hype Williams ' version won an MTV Video Music Award in 1995. I Wanna Be Down received for more than one million CDs sold platinum.

Baby

Baby is the second single from Brandy and Keith Crouch, Kipper Jones, Rahsaan Patterson was written and posted by Crouch. Published in January 1995, the song reached number one on the U.S. R & B / Hip- Hop charts and the top ten in New Zealand and the USA, and the top twenty in Australia. The director for the music video had Hype Williams. The title received a platinum award for more than one million units sold. Baby was the most successful single from Brandy.

Best Friend

Best Friend is a R & B / pop song written by Glenn McKinney and Keith Crouch and was the third single of the debut CD brandy. It reached only # 7 on the U.S. R & B / Hip- Hop charts, number 34 in the United States and number 11 in New Zealand. The song was covered in 2001 by the electronica / dance group Groove Armada My Friend and renamed.

Brokenhearted

Brokenhearted, the last single from the album, is a written by Keith Crouch, Glenn McKinney and Wanya Morris R & B / soul ballad. Although not represented on the album they released a remix version featuring Wanya Morris from Boyz II Men to regain the top ten. The remix version also appeared on the Boyz II Men Album The Remixes under the name Brokenhearted ( Soul Power Groove Mix). The song reached the top ten of the R & B / Hip- Hop Charts, New Zealand and the USA and was honored for 0.5 million singles sold with gold.
