Bron

Bron is a French town with 38 881 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) near Lyon. The municipality is the sixth- largest suburb in the agglomeration Urban Community of Lyon and one of the industrial centers of the region.

Geography

The town of Bron hotel is located in the southeast of the agglomeration of Lyon. The community is industrial in character, especially of metal and glass processing companies.

History

The first mention of the place Bron comes from the year 1202. The oldest traces of human settlement, which had been 1967/68 discovered in the town cemetery, dated to the year 61 BC. After centuries of peasant embossing to Bron developed in the 19th century by the proximity to the city of Lyon and by improving the infrastructure, such as the tram opened in 1881 from Lyon to an industrially significant city. Still in 1866 had the place to only 1,041 inhabitants, 6,397 in 1921 and 1931 12,423. Massive growth followed, especially in the 1950s and 1960s; the so far highest population of 44,995 was reached in 1975.

  • The Fort de Bron is a military system from 1872 - 1875; it was built to secure the new borders of France after the Franco-German War 1870-71
  • The Aéroport de Lyon -Bron is the second largest airport of Lyon (after Aéroport Lyon -Saint- Exupéry airport) and is in the area of the city Bron. First flights took place in 1910. The regular flight operations started from 1924. It was developed into a modern airport in 1957.
