Broutona

Broutona (Russian Остров Броутона; jap武 鲁 顿 岛, Buroton -tō ) is a small, uninhabited volcanic island of the Kuril Islands. It belongs administratively to the Russian Sakhalin Oblast and is named after William Robert Broughton.

Broutona lies about 55 kilometers northeast of the island Urup, and 17 km north- west of Tschirpoi and thus is easily within the actual, active volcanic island arc of the Kuril Islands. The roughly oval-shaped island has a length of 4.5 km, a width of up to 3.2 km and has an area of ​​about 7 km ². It reaches a height of 800 meters above the sea.
