History

The date of the foundation of the town " Bühren before the forest " is unknown. Archaeological finds of pottery and the impact Quartzite point Vossküppel show that the siedlungstopografisch conveniently located place has already been studied in the Paleolithic and later settled, because the place was on the eastern slope of the Bramwaldes flood- protected and directly on the water-rich Schede. Since when one can assume a continuous settlement of the village, however, is not certain. In the 9th and 10th centuries it was repeatedly mentioned as Burian documented in the Corveyer traditions, making it over 1000 years old. However, the mapping of these documents to Bühren is not without controversy, as there were several places named Buren in the wider area or still are.

Cultural and Natural Monuments

Church

The Bührener church goes back to a nearly square in plan view original building from the mid-12th century. The two-story building had a semicircular apse in the east and was expanded in 1220 in the West to a tower. The covered with a barrel vault floor and the wall a few slots on the lower floors show the original defensive character of the tower, on the top floor there are Romanesque coupled sound holes. After 1308 then the Romanesque apse was replaced by a slightly recessed rectangular choir. The two bells of the church date back to the Middle Ages. Today's late Baroque appearance of the nave and the tower roof come from conversions of the 18th century.

Tie

The medieval Tie together with the approximately 40 meters west located church and the surrounding half-timbered houses the town centers Bührens. The now eleven Linden umstandene place served in its beginnings of village justice, 1887, he was mentioned as a meeting place, the last meeting to have taken place here in 1948. The scale on a natural hill Tie is surrounded by a dry stone wall of rubble in the middle is an unknown carrier stones resting on three stone table age. In the course of Straßenbaumaßnehmen in the 1920s the space of a round shape has been transformed into a slightly oval 17 to 20 meters in diameter. 1960/61, the four additions were easily misplaced and damaged drywall supplements that Linden newly planted and three bells cast pits excavated. Because the older church bell is dated on the basis of comparisons before 1350, an appropriate minimum age is assumed for the tie.

Cairns

Southwest of the village is located on a hill of mountain pond, the Bührener Cross Stone Nest, a group of ten cross- stones, which are unique in this cluster in northern Germany. Nine of these cross-stones have already been mentioned in writing in 1878 with the reference to the word formations, also place names in maps from 1785 and 1840 indicate the cross-stones at this point. The present appearance of the square dates back to a Erdanschüttung of 1954/55, in which the cross-stones have been re- grouped with concrete foundations. 1956, the group was then added to another, only half-collar Cross Stone. The two stone crosses and eight cross-stones illustrations show different cross in relief and scoring technology, two of which also further representations ( shuttle or ax and block). The stones have a different high degree of destruction, in part, the cross shapes are no longer recognizable.

Approximately 170 meters south of the Kreuzenstein group was discovered in 1953, the lower half of the so-called " Männekensteines " in situ, the amount still is about 40.5 cm today. The " Männekenstein " dates back to the outgoing 12th century; it consists of a sandstone slab and bears in the center of the face side, scoring as the basis of a cross shaft. At the left edge of the stone a clothed man with pleated skirt is shown, which holds based on his hips hands. To his left a lance inserted in the soil. Such ornaments wore memorial stones, known as " tituli ", and which were set up for fallen soldiers.
