Bulacan (Bulacan)

Bulacan is a town in the Philippine province of Bulacan.

Named is the place, as the province, after the cotton that was once grown here in large quantities. 1574, the town was founded by Augustinians. Already in 1591 he had about 4800 inhabitants and became the capital of the homonymous province. Only shortly after the American occupation Malolos City became the capital. The most important educational institution is the Bulacan State University.

Bulacan is the birthplace of several well-known Filipino personalities, including:

  • Marcelo H. del Pilar, nationalist and editor of the newspaper La Solidaridad propaganda.
  • Gregorio del Pilar, Marcelo del Pilar and nephew of General during the Philippine- American War
  • Deodato Arellano Filipino revolutionary and first president of the Katipunan
  • Soc Rodrigo, former Philippine Senator
