Callenish Circle

Callenish Circle was a Dutch thrash and melodic death metal band from Sittard- Geleen, which was founded in 1992 under the name Genocide in 2007 and disbanded again.

History

The band was founded in the autumn of 1992 by singer and guitarist Patrick Savelkoul Jos Evers under the name Genocide. Since they were fans of bands like Death, Pestilence, Bolt Thrower and Paradise Lost older, they began initially with the covers of songs of these bands. In subsequent years, changed the composition of the band frequently, until in 1994, guitarist Ronny Tijssen and drummer Gavin Harte as other permanent members stood firm.

In 1995 followed with Lovelorn the first demo, the group now called Callenish Circle. Through the demo, the band reached the attention of Hammerheart Records, so that the label took the band under contract. Shortly after the debut album Drift of Empathy appeared, where it was heard as bassist John Gorissen. After a short time, the band split again by Hammerheart Records and in 1998 released an EP called Escape on Polar Bear Records. After the release, the band recorded their next album Graceful ... Yet Forbidding to or without any financial support. After the recordings guitarist Evers left the band and was replaced by Remy Dieteren. As a bassist, also Roland Schuschke was now represented in the band. The group reached a deal with DSFA Records. However, as the label went bankrupt, the album was only released in the Benelux countries. A little later, the album was released in Europe then Edge Runner Records in combination with the EP has already been published. Then gained the band a contract for four albums on Metal Blade Records.

In 2002, the album Flesh Power Dominion appeared in the U.S. and Europe. The album was recorded at Stage One Studio under the direction of Andy Classen. The release was followed by a tour with Vomitory and Amon Amarth. As a new bassist René Rokx was represented in the band, who had taken part already touring the Netherlands together with Primordial and Mercenary. In the following year appeared the next album My Passion / / Your Pain. Prior to the publication in May, the band went along with groups like Testament, Darkane, Pro-Pain and Death Angel on tour. After that follow a tour of England along with Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Mortician and God Dethroned. As a new bassist Ralph Roelvink was now in the band.

After drummer Gavin Harte had taken a short break from the band, the band went back into the studio in the summer of 2005 in order to record the album [ Pitch.Black.Effects ], where Maurice Brouwers ( Engine of Pain) as a session bassist worked as Roelvink had left the band again. As a live bassist Wim Vossen joined the band. The album was released in mid-November 2005. In January, the band went along with Paradise Lost on tour through Mexico. On 10 March 2007, the band held their last concert before they broke up.
