The Cambuur Stadium is a football stadium in the northern Dutch town of Leeuwarden, capital of the province of Friesland. It is part of the Sports Park Cambuur and has 10,500 covered seats.

History

The stadium was inaugurated in Leeuwarden on 12 September 1936. At that time the plant Gemeentelijk Sportpark Cambuur decreed off the pitch and parking is just a whistle. This changed in 1949, when three spectator stands were built and the capacity increased to 14,000 places. The venue was in 1961 floodlights; in the first game under the lights, it went against PSV Eindhoven.

The next structural change was held in 1980 at the stadium. It uncovered the Hintertorrang against a covered Admission Rank was replaced. The East Stand on the long side gave way to a covered grandstand seat. From the original stadium was only the grandstand. Since 2009, the SC Cambuur - Leeuwarden Leeuwarden and the municipality plans to build a new stadium after the event complex WTC Expo, part of the World Trade Center Leeuwarden. Construction is expected to have an initial capacity of 15,000 spectators. It will be possible to expand the stadium to 20,000 seats, for example if SC Cambuur - Leeuwarden should ascend to the first Dutch league.
