The EOS 450D has compared to its predecessor EOS 400D on numerous smaller changes.

The resolution of the CMOS image sensor is 12.2 megapixels ( EOS 400D 10 MP), for image processing, the camera is equipped with the newer DIGIC III processor, the first in the EOS -1D Mark III was used and a color depth of 14 bits per channel obtained at the image signal processing. Continuous shooting can be made with up to 3.5 frames per second, with the internal buffer memory 6 RAW or 53 large JPEG takes pictures. The display now has a diagonal of 3 inches instead of 2.5 inches, the resolution, however, remains at 230,000 pixels.

In the EOS 450D a live image preview is integrated in contrast to previous models.
