Carl Edvard Rotwitt

Carl Eduard Rotwitt ( born March 12, 1812 in Hillerød, † February 8, 1860 in Copenhagen) was a Danish politician and Konseilspräsident.

Studies and career

Rotwitt first completed a study of the Law, from which he graduated in 1834 with the state exam. He then worked as a lawyer. In 1842, his admission to the Prosecutor at the Supreme Court.

Political career

Rotwitt began his political career in 1849 with the election of deputies to the Reichstag second chamber Folketing, where he joined the company in 1846 founded the Bauer Friends ( Bond Even Nernes Selskab ). On 13 June 1853 he was elected president of the chamber and held that post until December 2, 1859.

In 1855, he was also Chief Administrator of the Office of Frederiksborg, in the Frederiksborg Castle was the favorite residence of King Frederick VII and Countess Danner.

Following the resignation of Prime Minister Carl Christian Hall Rotwitt of Frederick VII was appointed on 2 December 1859 Konseilspräsidenten. At the same time he took over the Ministry of Justice. He died in office of a sudden stroke. With the end of his cabinet, the influence of the Countess Danner ended up on the Danish cabinet policy.
