Carlos Betancur

Carlos Alberto Betancur Gómez (born 13 October 1989) is a Colombian road racing cyclist.

Carlos Betancur was 2006 third stage in the Vuelta Ciclista a la Republica del Ecuador. The next year he was runner-up in the Colombian road race in the junior class. In the 2009 season he was successful in the fourth stage of the U23 host the Vuelta a Colombia and was also the overall standings decide for themselves. The road Cycling World Championships in Mendrisio, he won the silver medal behind the Frenchman Romain Sicard in the road race in the U23 class.

In 2010, he was two stages and the overall classification of the Giro d' Italia Ciclistico decide for itself the young host of the Giro d' Italia. In 2011 he won the Giro dell'Emilia. In 2012 he won a stage of each Tour of Belgium and of the Giro di Padania, as well as the Trofeo Melinda.

In 2013, he joined the team and drove since then for the French team AG2R La Mondiale. Here he achieved the first successes in respect of the UCI World Tour. First, he was beaten with a photo finish only his compatriot Sergio Henao at a steep uphill finish in the Basque Country tour and was ultimately overall seventh, before he succeeded the second Ardennes classics, the Fleche Wallonne, an excellent third place after the final climb of the dreaded wall had stood by Huy to a hundred meters before the finish line in the lead, but ultimately still Henao was overtaken by eventual winner Daniel Moreno and again. Also in Liege -Bastogne- Liege the Movers Season 2013 proved his good form as he was in Ans fourth behind the winner Daniel Martin, Joaquin Rodriguez and Alejandro Valverde. At the Giro d' Italia, he formed a team AG2R together with Domenico Pozzovivo a double peak. Here, the Colombians outstripped his Italian team-mate and was a total of three second and two third placings stage win. In addition, he finished fifth in the overall standings and won the white jersey of best young rider.
