2013 UCI World Tour

The UCI World Tour 2013 included 29 cycling races, including the three -week tour Tour de France, Giro d' Italia and Vuelta a España ( Grand Tours), as well as major cycling classics, including the five monuments of cycling Milan - Sanremo, Tour of Flanders, Paris - Roubaix, Liege -Bastogne- Liège and Giro di Lombardia. The competitions were held from January to October 2013. In each race ( one-day races ) or the stage and overall standings ( stage race ) were awarded points for finishing position, which were offset to world rankings for drivers, teams and nations.

Participants are particularly licensed ProTeam. In addition, Professional Continental teams may be invited by the respective organizers of a race. In some competitions such as the Tour Down Under in Australia or the Tour of Poland also a national team of the host country is eligible to participate.

Team

UCI ProTeam

For the UCI World Tour 2013, the following were registered by the UCI ProTeam. The Katusha team received from the International Cycling Union UCI for the 2013 season as a ProTeam license no. After World Sports Court of Arbitration rejected the issuance of a provisional license in an emergency procedure, Katusha requested the grant of a license as a Professional Continental team to to the main decision of the CAS can even take part in international cycling race. The license was issued on 15 January 2013. On February 15, 2013, the CAS decision in the main proceedings that the Katusha team's World Tour license shall be granted, after which the UCI decided on 18 February 2013, the number of ProTeam exceptionally be increased to 19 so that all other 18 teams kept their license.

UCI Professional Continental teams

The UCI announced on 2 and 28 November 2012 that 19 teams have received for the 2012 season a license as a Professional Continental team. The team RusVelo, which was initially denied the license applied for, this was on 9 January 2013. Added to this was on January 15, 2013 provisionally the Katusha team

Race

After originally to be held from 9 to 13 October in China as a new stage race in the UCI World Tour, the Tour of Hangzhou, this event has been canceled, as in the previous year by the UCI in February 2013 from the calendar, and instead the Tour of Beijing from 16 to 20 October brought forward to 11 to 15 October 2013.

Scoring

In the UCI World Tour ranking points as follows will be awarded for the UCI World:

  • Category 1: Tour de France
  • Category 2: Giro d' Italia, Vuelta a España
  • Category 3: Monuments of cycling, remaining eleven stage race
  • Category 4: Rest of the nine -day race

The team standings and national rankings are determined by the points of the 5 best riders of each team and each nation will be added. Additional points get teams who finish in the team time trial of UCI Road World Championships 2013 in the top ten.
