Elia Viviani

Elia Viviani ( born February 7, 1989 Vallese di Oppeano ) is an Italian track and road racing cyclist.

Career

Elia Viviani was 2006 European Champion in the team sprint Junior Class and Junior Scratch. At the Junior World Championships in Ghent, he won the bronze medal in the Madison. On the road, he won the "Memorial Leonardo Massaro ". The following year, Viviani was Italian Champion in the Team Pursuit Junior and the team sprint at the Junior class. At the European Championships he won the gold medal in the points race and bronze in the team sprint. At the Junior World Championships in Aguascalientes, he won bronze in the team pursuit. 2008 Viviani won at the U23 European Championship bronze medal in the team pursuit and each gold in the scratch and in Madison. In the elite class, he won bronze in the Omnium.

In the UCI Track World Championships 2011 in Apeldoorn Elia Viviani won silver in the scratch, in the Omnium, he finished seventh and sixth place in Madison, together with Davide Cimolai. In the Track World Championships the following year in Melbourne he crashed so hard that he had to give up on his participation in the Omnium.

As a road cyclist, he has already achieved several victories in the sprint for smaller tours or one-day races. It is worth mentioning a stage win at the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré 2013.
