Carlos Mortensen

Juan Carlos "El Matador" Mortensen ( born April 13, 1972 in Ambato, Ecuador ) is a Spanish professional poker player.

Mortensen was born the son of a Dane and a Spanish in Ecuador and lived there until 1987 when his family moved to Spain.

Mortensen moved in the late 1990s by Spain to the United States in order to play poker professionally. In the summer of 2001, he succeeded his first major victory by winning the Main Event of the World Series of Poker 2001. He deserved so 1.5 million U.S. dollars in prize money.

In 2007 he won the season finale of the World Poker Tour. He won the grand prize in the amount of nearly 4 million U.S. dollars. The victory at the WPT Championship 2007 he managed to win the two biggest and most prestigious poker tournaments as the first poker player.

In the Main Event of the World Series of Poker in 2013, he just missed the final table with a tenth place.

Overall, he won with 11.4 million dollars in poker tournaments.

He was from January 1990 to 2006, Cecilia Reyes, also a professional poker player married.
