CASA C-212 Aviocar
The Spanish CASA C 212 " Aviocar " is a military transport aircraft. The pattern is the response of the aircraft manufacturer CASA on the demand of many air forces after a light transport aircraft that can also be used in undeveloped areas without paved airstrip.
Description
To meet these demands, the C 212 has been specifically developed as a high-wing monoplane with fixed landing gear. It is equipped with turboprop engines and has STOL capabilities. The first flight took place on 26 March 1971.
Through the spacious cabin and the rear loading ramp, the C 212 can very well be used as a tactical transport. Thanks to the payload of 2950 kg, everything can be transported to a single engine fighter aircraft of 25 paratroopers over 12 stretchers and 4 physicians.
For the normal version also various special versions have been developed, such as for maritime surveillance and electronic warfare.
To date, 477 aircraft have been sold to 40 countries.
The Indonesian company Nurtanio (later IPTN ) builds, since 2013 exclusively, the C 212 and NC -212 under license. Airbus concluded with the Indonesian company PT Dirgantara Indonesia ( PT DI) 2013 a contract for the development of the NC 212i.
The machines used temporarily at the 6th Special Operations Squadron ( 16th Special Operations Wing ) of the USAF were designated as a CASA C- 41A.
Since the integration of military aircraft division of CASA in the Airbus Military C-212 belongs to the Airbus range.
