Čechy, Nové Zámky District

Bohemia ( until 1927 slovak also " Čahovce "; Hungarian Komáromcsehi - to 1907 Csehi ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 310 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Nové Zámky, a circle of Nitriansky kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowland, more precisely in the southwest part of Hillsbrad Pohronská pahorkatina. The municipal area is undulating with height of 149 m nm up to 287 m N.M. and covered with brown and black soils, with some remnants of deciduous forests around the village. The center is located at an altitude of 162 m nm and is 20 kilometers from Nové Zámky away.

Neighboring municipalities are Veľké Lovce in the north, Dedinka in the northeast, Kolta the east and Semerovo the south and west.

History

According to archaeological studies, there was a settlement in the Neolithic period. Permanently the municipal area has been inhabited since the 9th century; in the 12th and 13th centuries there was an agricultural settlement that belonged to Graner chapter. The town was first mentioned in 1419 as Felsewchey writing and refers to Hussite families who came from Bohemia and Moravia and settled beside the older settlement. At times, there were two settlements called Horne Bohemia Bohemia and Malé; the latter was lost in the 17th century.

The village belonged to the gentry, more specifically to the families Csehi, Gyöpös and Nagyörvedi, in the 17th century Kürthy, Balogh and Megyery. Due to continuous wars against the Turks in the 16th and 17th century Bohemia was largely depopulated and repopulated after the end of war conditions. In 1715 there were eleven households, 1787 were counted 55 houses and 344 inhabitants in 1828 and 58 houses and 431 inhabitants, who were employed in agriculture.

Until 1919 was the lying in Komárom place the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia. On the basis of the First Vienna Award, he was 1938-1945 again in Hungary.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Bohemia 299 inhabitants, of whom 278 Slovaks, Magyars 13 and a Czech; a resident had a different ethnic group. Six residents did not know. 194 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, nine inhabitants to the Reformed Church, six inhabitants to the Jehovah's Witnesses and a resident of the Protestant Church of the 76 residents were non-denominational and 13 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
