Celebration is the third best-of album by Madonna and appeared in Germany and other European countries on September 18, 2009 and in the U.S. on September 28. The album was released both as a double CD with 36 songs, as well as a single CD with 18 songs. All songs include Madonna's entire career, from Everybody from 1982 to the current singles Miles Away and Celebration. The fans were allowed to vote on the songs selection with the internet and so also some fan favorites like Who's That Girl and Dress You Up took place on the compilation. Madonna said:
"They are all a part of me. Each song reveals an aspect of my person, or a pivotal moment for me. I know with every song, which was at this time in my life going on. They are signposts. "
Overview
The album is the last one, which was posted in Madonna's label Warner Bros. bisherigem before transitioning to Live Nation. In addition, an eponymous Video Collection was released on September 25 in Germany and contains 47 video clips of the artist, mostly videos that were never before available on DVD.
The single of the same "Celebration" is already available for several weeks successful in the charts. The Germany premiere of the video took place three days before the release of the single. This came on the 4th of September in the stores and reached in Germany went straight to number 5 in the charts. The video for " Celebration" was shot in Milan, directed by Jonas Akerlund ( " Ray Of Light" ). In addition to this single another new song on the album, namely "Revolver" feat. Lil Wayne.
For the album artwork of the artist Mr. Brainwash was responsible. Worldwide, there were release parties for publication, and extensive advertising campaigns. In many metropolitan areas, could be seen that graced the memorable album cover in metro stations huge posters. The album placed after a week at No. 1 in Germany, the UK and Italy.
