César Pelli

César Antonio Pelli ( born October 12, 1926 in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina) is an Argentine architect. He became famous mainly through the 452 meter high Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, which were built after his design.

César Pelli studied architecture at the Universidad de Tucumán and graduated from the Illinois Technical Institute in Chicago from. Important teacher and role model for him was Eero Saarinen.

1968, involved César Pelli and employees as American team at the international competition for an " International Centre " (Vienna International Centre as at that time the third UN Headquarters ) with an attached " Austrian Convention center" ( after the establishment of the Austria Center Vienna called ). Although the Pelli team won the race itself (first of four awards ), from national political reasons, the winning project was finally back ranked at the 4th place and thus did not come to implementation.

In 1977 he founded the architectural firm Cesar Pelli & Associates Architects. In 1991 he won the competition of Malaysia's state oil and gas company Petronas.

The architects Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects planned community in the Manhattan, New York City, ten meters shorter than the Empire State Building, from 2011, to be achieved office building 15 Penn Plaza.
