Chambornay-lès-Pin

Chambornay -lès- Pin is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Chambornay -lès- Pin is located at an altitude of 218 m above sea level, about 14 km northwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village extends to the south of the department, on the northern edge of the valley of Ognon, opposite Sauvagney, south of the Monts de Gy.

The area of ​​4.85 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the lower Ognon Valley. The southern border is always along the Ognon. This here flows with large river bends to the southwest by an alluvial plain, which has a width of one to two kilometers and is on average 210 m. From the river, the municipality's area extends north across the valley to the adjacent plateau, which is composed of Tertiary sediments. It is broken down by the little valley of the village of Bach's Chambornay. The plateau is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, but also shows some forest areas. With 276 m is quite reached the highest elevation of Chambornay -lès- Pin in the northwest.

Neighboring communities of Chambornay -lès- Pin are Gézier -et- Fontenelay in the north, and Etuz Cussey -sur- l'Ognon in the east, the south and Sauvagney Vregille in the West.

History

Remains of a fortified Roman camp space on the Châtelard point to an early settlement of the area. Is first mentioned Chambornay in the year 1301. During the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held the monastery of Gigny which gave the area a Benedictine priory founded here. Together with the Franche -Comté Chambornay came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Since 2002 Chambornay -lès- Pin is a member of the 15 localities municipal association Communauté de communes de la Vallée de l' Ognon.

Attractions

The single village church of Chambornay -lès- Pin was built in the 18th century and includes furniture and a statue of the Virgin and Child from this time and six chandelier in the Louis XVI style.

Population

With 344 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Chambornay -lès- Pin is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 177 persons were still counted ), a strong population growth has been recorded since the early 1970s again. Since then, the population has more than tripled.

Economy and infrastructure

Chambornay -lès- Pin was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and agglomeration in Besançon.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Marnay by Etuz. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 13 km. Further road links exist with Sauvagney and Gézier -et- Fontenelay.
