Chasing Mavericks

Mavericks - Live your dream is a biographical film directed by Curtis Hanson and Michael Apted from 2012 about the life of American surfer Jay Moriarity.

Summary

Jay Moriarity was still a child when " Frosty" Hesson drew him out of the surf on the north coast of California. Seven years later dreams of the 16 -year-old surfer on the wave giants of the Mavericks, try each year to meet the Hesson and other surf veterans. Despite major concerns itself Hesson can be persuaded to coach the boys. But the season for surfing Mavericks is short, and Jay must be physically, mentally and emotionally get through a tough workout in order there to be able to survive.

Criticism

The lexicon of the International film wrote that the production going, " it only secondarily lost surfing ". In the center rather stand the " mentor -student relationship ", which let also be interpreted as " symbolic father -son relationship ." The " carefully scripted climax with impressive sea shots and rapid surf scenes " would succeed to weaken existing " genre clichés and linguistic platitudes " in terms of their negative effect.
