Chen Qi (table tennis)

Chen Qi (Chinese陈 玘/陈 玘, Pinyin Chén Qǐ; born April 15, 1984 in Nantong ) is a Chinese table tennis player. He won three world titles as well as gold in doubles at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Chen Qi belonged to the Chinese squad for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.

Career

Chen Qi was appointed in October 2002 in the Chinese national team. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens he won the gold medal in doubles. With four world championships he could each secure a gold medal: again at the World Cup 2006 in Bremen with the team at the 2007 World Championships in Zagreb in a double, at the World Championships 2008 in Guangzhou with the team and at the 2009 World Championships in Yokohama again in a double. At the 2005 World Championships in Shanghai, Chen Qi won the bronze medal in doubles. In individual he reached the fifth place there. 2005 and 2007 he took part in the Asian Championships and reached respectively in the team's first, second and double the Mixed fifth place. In 2007, Chen Qi also fifth in the individual.

Chen Qi was a member of the Chinese team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, but only had the role of reservists held.

In 2010 he was inducted into the ITTF Hall of Fame. In 2013 he married. The end of 2013 he retired from the Chinese national team.
