2007 World Table Tennis Championships

The 52nd World Table Tennis Championship took place from 21 to 27 May 2007 Zagreb instead. Zagreb was awarded in March 2004 by the participants of the Annual General Meeting of the International Table Tennis Federation ( ITTF ) preference over Stockholm. Previously had already Chicago and Jeju withdrew her application.

The Croatian capital benefited from the alignment of the Table Tennis Championships 2002. Croatia was for the first time host of the World Table Tennis Championship.

Cutting off the Germans

The players were supervised by national coach Richard Prause, Jörg Bitzigeio was coach of the ladies.

Men's Singles

Timo Boll defeated in the second round the Greeks Kalinikos Kreanga, but resigned after against Ryu Seung- min. Previously, he had won against Thiago Monteiro (Brazil ) Robert Svensson ( Sweden) and against Lin Ju (Dominican Republic).

Patrick Baum lost in the first round against Liu Song (Argentina, Chinese descent ).

Jörg Rosskopf came next round by Erik Illas (Slovenia ) defeated, and then was eliminated by Kan Yo (Japan).

For Dimitrij Ovtcharov the first in the world rankings Ma Lin ( China) was the last stop. Previously, he had turned Daniel Gorak (Poland).

Bastian Steger defeated Wang Hao (China) to victories over Peter -Paul Pradeeban (Canada) and Yang Zi ( Singapore).

Sweet defeated Tiago Apolonia (Portugal ) and Cheung Yuk ( Hong Kong) and then lost to Ma Long (China).

Thomas Keinath has now the Slovak citizenship and went to Slovakia. He retired in the first round against Hungarian Peter Fazekas. Even in a double with the Slovaks Peter Sereda he immediately lost against Zoran Primorac / Tan Ruiwu (Croatia).

Men's doubles

Boll / Suss reached the last eight, where they did against the Taiwanese Yen - Shu Chiang Peng-Lung/Chang. They had previously prevailed against Safa Avci / Irfan Tavukcuoglu (Turkey), Antonin Gavlas / Petr Korbel (CSSR ) and Zoran Primorac / Tan Ruiva (Croatia).

Tree / Ovtcharov won against the Danes Christian Larsen / Pedersen and failed in round 2 of Hao Shuai / Ma Long (China).

Rosskopf / Steger lost after defeating Sas Lasan / Jan Zibrat (Slovenia ) in the second round against the Poles Lucian Blaszczyk / Wang Zeng Yi.

Women's Singles

Nicole Struse failed under the last 32 at Guo Yan (China). Previously, she had won against Julia Necula (Romania) and Kim Jung Hyun (South Korea).

Wu Jiaduo came after victories against Tatiana Sorochinskaya (Ukraine ) and Xu Jie (Poland ) under the last 32, where they lost to the later world champion Guo Yue (China).

Kristin silver iron was eliminated in the first round against Pan Chun -Li (Taiwan), as well as Zhenqi Barthel against Reiko Hiura (Japan).

Elke Wosik survived Round 1 against Fabiola Ramos ( Venezuela) and defeated then against Wu Xue (Dominican Republic).

Women Doubles

Struse / Barthel reached after beating Ekaterina Levina / Saida Makhmudova (Uzbekistan ), Victoria Pavlowitch / Tatjana Kostromina ( Belarus ) and Lin Ling / Lau Sui Fei ( Hong Kong), the quarter-finals. Here the double Li Jia Wei / Wang Yuegu (Singapore ) was the last stop.

Wosik / Wu Jiaduo immediately lost against the Greeks Christina Fili / Ekaterina Ntoulaki.

Mixed

Steger / silver iron were turned off in the first game of Bartosz search / Marta Golota (Poland).

Sweet / Wosik won first against Segun Toriola / Olufunke Oshonaike (Nigeria ) and then surprisingly against the Chinese Zhang Yike / Yao Yun, but eliminated in the next round against Joo Se-hyuk/Park Mi -young (Korea ) from.

Ovtcharov / Barthel came against Žolt Pete / Eva Tapai (Serbia ) on, but then lost against the Japanese Seiya Kishikawa / Ai Fukuhara.

Tree / Wu Jiaduo survived Round 1 against Kestutis Zeimys / Kardauskaite Inga (Lithuania ) to excrete then against Lei Zhenhua / Ding Ning (China).
