Chernigov Governorate

The province Chernihiv (Russian Черниговская губерния / Tschernigowskaja Gubernija, Ukrainian Чернігівська губернія / Tschernihiwska hubernija ) was one of 1802 to 1919 existing management unit ( Gubernija / губерния ) of the Russian Empire. Capital of the province with a population of 2.298 million (1897 ) was the city of Chernigov ( Chernihiv Ukr ) in Ukraine.

Geography

The government was in the territory of the left-bank Ukraine to the north of present-day Ukraine and southern Russia and had an area of ​​52,396 km ².
