Chris Haslam (basketball)
Christopher John Haslam ( born May 27, 1974 in Southport, Merseyside ) is a former British professional basketball player. After studying in the United States Haslam played in several European leagues, in addition to Germany at the MBC from Weissenfels in the 2001/ 02 season for a longer time in Belgium and Italy. At the end of his career, the British national team returned to his homeland where he had his professional career also started. After his career Haslam 2010 was assistant coach at Lamar ( Colorado) at the community college.
Career
To study Haslam was in 1993 in the United States at the University of Wyoming, where he - together in a team with the future NBA All-Star Theo Ratliff - played for the college team cowboys who then played in the Western Athletic Conference of the NCAA. However, the Cowboys were never able to qualify for the national finals of the NCAA during Haslam's active time.
1997 Haslam returned to his homeland and played for the Bullets from Birmingham in the British Basketball League. The Bullets won this season, the league title and the title of the London Towers brought back. Haslam changed for the following season to Greece Apollon Patras. However, the Greeks occupied at the end of the season, only the second to last place and were relegated from the A1 Ethniki. During the German coach Dirk Bauer man took over the club in the following season, Haslam moved to Belgium, where peasant had previously worked. The Royal Basket Club from Pepinster Haslam missed after a poor start to the season and a coaching change the play-offs succeeded to the Belgian Championship 2000. For the season 2001 /02 Haslam signed a contract with the then German first division MBC Weissenfels in the National Basketball League. At the end of his career, he won with the Tigers in 2010 and the championship in the British Basketball League, after becoming runner-up in the previous year.
With the England team Haslam has always failed to qualify for a final. After the award of the 2012 Olympic Games in the British capital London, a British national basketball team was re-formed. Together with Haslam this team could then play in the circle of the best European national teams of the Division A 2007. Then Haslam was for the national team, which then qualified for the European Championship finals in 2009, no longer considered.
