Christopher Prowse

Christopher Charles Prowse ( born November 14, 1953 in East Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) is Archbishop of Canberra - Goulburn.

Life

Christopher Prowse, was born as the third of six children of Frank Prowse and his wife Marian, nee Atkinson. He first attended the St. Francis Xavier Primary School in Box Hill and later the St. Leo 's College in Box Hill. He subsequently joined the seminary Corpus Christi College and studied at sites in Werribee (1972) and Clayton ( 1973-1980 ) Catholic theology and philosophy. He obtained in 1978 a Bachelor of Arts at Monash University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Theology at the Melbourne College of Divinity. In 1979 he emmpfing the diaconate and was a deacon in the parish of St. John's active in Mitcham. On August 16, 1980 he donated the Archbishop of Melbourne, Thomas Francis Little, the ordination. As a result, he was from 1981 to 1983 chaplain in the parish of St. Mary of the Angels in Geelong and from 1984 to 1985 in the parish of St Monica's in Moonee Ponds. He was then released to a graduate studies and earned a licentiate in moral theology in 1987 at the Pontifical Gregorian University. From 1988 to 2001 he was professor of moral theology at the Catholic Theological College. In 1993 he returned for a renewed study visit to Rome and was established in 1995 at the Pontifical Lateran University, after making a supervised on the toxicity associated with this Pontifical Academy Alfonsiana dissertation titled Racist Attitudes Towards Aboriginal Australians in the Light of Contemporary Catholic Concepts of Social Sin and Conversion Dr. theol. doctorate. Since 1996, he was next to his lecturing pastor of Holy Spirit in East Thornbury.

2001 appointed him Archbishop Denis Hart Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Melbourne and to Moderator Curiae. He was also a member of the College of Consultors. On October 6, 2001, he Pope John Paul II conferred the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ).

John Paul II appointed him on 4 April 2003 as Titular Bishop of Bahanna and auxiliary bishop in Melbourne. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Melbourne, Denis Hart, on 19 May of the same year; Co-consecrators were George Pell, Archbishop of Sydney, and Francesco Canalini, Apostolic Nuncio in Australia.

On 18 June 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Bishop of Sale. The solemn inauguration ( enthronement ) took place on 15 July of the same year.

Pope Francis appointed him on September 12, 2013 to the Archbishop of Canberra - Goulburn. The inauguration took place on 19 November of the same year. In addition, Francis called him on 27 February 2014 consultant to the Pontifical Commission for Dialogue with Judaism.
