Chulumani Municipality

The municipality Chulumani is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Chulumani is one of five Municipalities of the Province Sud Yungas, located in the southern part of the province. It is bordered on the northwest by the province of Nor Yungas, to the west by the municipality of Yanacachi, on the southeast by the municipality of Irupana, and on the northeast by the municipality of La Asunta.

The municipality has 79 localities ( Localidades ), the central location of the municipality is Chulumani with 2,724 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality. Other major towns in the municipality of Pasto Pata are 775 inhabitants and Huancané with 686 inhabitants. (2001)

Geography

The municipality is located in the Bolivian Yungas Chulumani at an average altitude of 1800 m on the eastern slopes of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real. The region has a pronounced diurnal climate where the temperatures fluctuate more during the day than during the year.

The mean average temperature of the region is 21 ° C (see climate chart ), the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 18 ° C in July and 22 ° C in December. The annual rainfall is about 1150 mm, the monthly rainfall is between about 20 mm in the months of June and July, and more than 150 mm from December to February.
