Clem Clempson

David " Clem " Clempson ( born September 5, 1949 in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England as David Clempson ) is a British guitarist who was a member of several well-known rock bands, including the Colosseum and Humble Pie.

Biography

In the late 1960s Clempson began his musical career with the band Bakerloo. In this blues power trio Clempson had the central role of the singer and guitarist. As Bakerloo played in the interlude of Colosseum, Jon became aware Hiseman on Clempson and overtook him in 1969 as a singer and guitarist for Colosseum. 1970 took over Chris Farlowe the position of the singer. After the dissolution of Colosseum Clempson was in 1971 Steve Marriott Humble Pie, where he replaced Peter Frampton.

In 1975, together with Clempson Greg Ridley and Cozy Powell, the power trio Strange Brew, which, however, was only two months, as Clempson had an accident. In the same year he was invited by Deep Purple as a replacement for Ritchie Blackmore, but this cooperation ended after a few days. At the similar time Clempson helped out with the band Snafu. In January 1976, Clempson member of Steve Marriott 's All Stars, but even this experiment was a short time to an end when the Marriott Small Faces revived.

In September 1976 Clempson presented along with David Byron, the group Rough Diamond, the renamed after Byron's departure in 1977 and 1979 Champion dissolved. Thereafter he joined Jack Bruce, with whom he recorded albums, TV appearances and tours completed. He also played in the bands of such famous musicians such as Roger Chapman, Roger Daltrey, Cozy Powell, Ken Hensley, Jon Anderson, Tom Waits, Tanita Tikaram, Chris de Burgh, Bonnie Tyler and Bob Dylan.

In 1994 there was the reunion of the Colosseum. Two studio and two live albums and sold-out tours followed.

After the departure of Alex Conti in the spring of 2008, he has been a member of the Hamburg Blues Band, with whom he has recorded the album in November 2008 published Mad Dog Blues.

Clempson was next involved as a session musician, composer or arranger on several film scores, including Evita, GI Jane, Lawn Dogs, Tomorrow Never Dies and Notting Hill.

In 2011, he was with Colosseum, Arthur Brown and Chris Farlowe on tour. In 2012 he left the Hamburg Blues Band to begin a solo project after a performance at the Herzberg Festival.
