Col de la Cayolle

In the vicinity of the pass

The Col de la Cayolle is a mountain pass in the French Maritime Alps on the border of the departments of Alpes- de -Haute -Provence and Alpes- Maritimes in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur. The pass is situated at 2326 m. It connects Barcelonette (1150 m), in the valley of Ubaye, with Saint -Martin- d'Entraunes (1050 m).

The Col de la Cayolle is how the parallel north- south trade routes - Col d'Allos and Col de la Bonette, in the Mercantour National Park.

Near the Cayolle the river Var, which serves the same department on the Côte d' Azur as the namesake springs. Later in the mountain pass of Saint -Martin- d'Entraunes the south of the Var has carved a remarkable deep canyon in red claystone, the " Gorges de Daluis ".

The north runs the whitewater river Bachelard.
