Cormons

Cormòns ( Cormons Friulian, Slovenian KRmin, German Kremaun or Gremaun ) is a municipality with 7501 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the eastern Friuli, Italy and capital of the Collio wine region.

History

The origin of the town goes back a long, already in 181 BC Cormòns was a Roman military station. Later it brought the Patriarch of Aquileia, the prey of the looting of Grado safe. 1487 left the Counts of Gorizia, the castle of the Roman-German King Maximilian I of Habsburg. The place was before the First World War garrison of the Austro -Hungarian army. 1914 was here, the Second Battalion of the k.k. Landwehr Infantry Regiment No. 26 stationed. In 1918 Cormòns to Italy.

Today Cormòns is the economic and cultural center of the Collio. The residents today live mainly on viticulture.

Festivals

The district Brazzano is located on the banks of Judrio and was the last place of imperial rule before the border. Every year in August is here - even today! - The " Emperor birthday of Franz Joseph " celebrated.
