History

CSM Râmnicu Vâlcea ( German Urban sports club Râmnicu Vâlcea ) was founded in 2004, without being a direct descendant of the dissolved for financial reasons traditional clubs Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea. The association, whose main shareholder was the city council under the leadership of the newly elected mayor Mircia Gutau, started in his first season in the third Romanian League, the Divizia C, with Lucian Catargiu, the former coach of third division Oltchim Ramnicu Valcea, as head coach. On 19 October 2004 Catargiu was made redundant, so that on 29 October 2004 Adrian FURNICA for the first time sat in the dugout at home against Progresul Corabia. With him CSM rose to the Divizia B in the first year of its existence. The season 2005/ 06 he finished a disappointing sixth place in the club after he was still considered after the first round as a safe ascent candidate. The contract with FURNICA was dissolved and with Costel Pană committed in June 2006 a new coach, with the CSM in the season 2006/ 07 almost failed in the Table 1 the rise and the only Universitatea Cluj and Dacia Mioveni had to let go first. Subsequently, the contract was terminated with Pană in June 2007 and instead Marian Bondrea brought in as head coach. Since in the following season threatened Missing the rise objective Bondrea was released on 24 March 2008 and the current assistant coach Dumitru Teleşpan took until the end of the season his place. CSM was again third in the table, this time behind FC Arges Pitesti and Gaz Metan Medias.

In June 2008, Marin Barbu became the new coach of the team. Shortly afterwards, however, he fell out with George Frasin, businessman and patron of new CSM after the takeover of the club by the City Council, and was replaced by the former Macedonian Nikola Ilievski coach in July 2008. After only six league games, he was replaced by Alin Artimon, with the club in the season 2008 /09 the fourth place went to and thus the achieved until now best ranking in their history. Three days before the start of the following season Artimon resigned on 19 August 2009 by his office because he could not agree on the appropriate method of payment with the club's management. After the first match, where the supervised Dumitru Teleşpan team won 6-1 against Neuaufsteiger Fortuna Covaci, however, he returned to CSM. Then broke Artimon on 15 March 2010 his coach contract finally on, and was succeeded by again, the previous assistant coach Dumitru Teleşpan.
