ÄŒunovo

Čunovo (Slovak incorrectly referred to " Čuňovo "; Sarndorf German, Hungarian Dunacsún - to 1907 CSUN - older even Csun or Csuny, Croatian Čunovo ) is a district in the south of Bratislava located on the right side of the Danube on the border with Hungary.

Description and History

The village was mentioned in 1232 as Chun for the first time. In the wake of the Turkish wars in the 16th century, many Croats migrated into the town, this place is still a strong minority in the city. By 1947, then part of the two neighboring towns Rusovce and Jarovce to Hungary and came as a result of World War II Czechoslovakia (see also Bratislava bridgehead ), until then an independent city was on 1 January 1972 a city district of Bratislava.

Worth seeing is a church in the Baroque style in the 18th century and opened in 2000 the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum at the dam in the middle of the Danube.
