Cupressus macnabiana is a plant belonging to the family of the cypress family ( Cupressaceae ). It is native to California.

Description

Can Cupressus macnabiana grows as a shrub -like, evergreen tree of stature heights of up to 12 meters and diameter at breast height of more than 1 meter reach. The rough, fibrous bark is furrowed. Distribution and location

The natural range of Cupressus macnabiana located in California. They can be found there on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada in Amador County, Nevada County and Yuba County. In Lake County and Napa County it grows on the slopes of the inner Coast Ranges. Furthermore, there are deposits in Mendocino County and Shasta County.

Cupressus macnabiana thrives at altitudes 300-850 meters. It grows mainly in forests of foothills and in the undergrowth often Serpentinböden.

Murray ) DP Little and Neocupressus macnabiana (A. Murray ) de Laub .. The specific epithet honors the former macnabiana curator of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, James McNab.

Cupressus macnabiana forms in the Costal Ranges hybrids with Cupressus sargentii. This is the only known natural interspecific hybridisation within the genus of cypresses (Cupressus ).

Threats and conservation

Cupressus macnabiana is " not threatened " on the Red List of IUCN. It is noted, however, that a re-examination of risk is necessary.
