Nevada County is a county located in the Sierra Nevada in California. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Nevada City.

Geography

The county has a total area of ​​2524 square kilometers. Of these 44 square kilometers of water (1.73 percent). It is bordered clockwise to the County: Sierra County, Washoe County, Placer County and Yuba County.

History

The Nevada County was formed in 1851 from parts of Yuba County. It takes its name from the gold rush town of Nevada City, which in turn takes its name from the Sierra Nevada.
