Siskiyou County, California

The Siskiyou County is a county located in the north of the U.S. state of California. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Yreka.

Geography

The county has a total area of ​​16,440 square kilometers. Of these, 157 square kilometers (0.96 percent) of water. It is located in the Cascades and the Oregon border, bordered clockwise to the counties: Klamath County, Jackson County, Modoc County, Trinity County, Shasta County, Humboldt County, Del Norte County and Josephine County.

History

The Siskiyou County was established in March 1852 from parts of Shasta and Klamath counties. 1855 parts were outsourced to the Modoc County. It was named after the Siskiyou Mountains.
