Plumas County, California

Plumas County is a county located in the Sierra Nevada in the state of California, United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Quincy, the only incorporated city is Portola.

Geography

The county has a total area of ​​6769 square kilometers. Of these, 155 square kilometers (2.29 percent of the total area) of water. It is bordered clockwise to the counties: Lassen County, Sierra County, Yuba County, Butte County, Tehama County and Shasta County.

History

The Nevada County was founded in 1854 from parts of Butte County. Parts of the county were held in 1864 but ceded to the Lassen County. It was named after the river Feather River, whose Spanish name Rio de la pluma is that roughly means flow of the spring.
