The Danube hills (Slovak Podunajská pahorkatina ) is the north-east, gebirgigere part of the Danube Lowland in Slovakia.

The area is located between the Danube Plain and the Danube in the south, the Little Carpathians in the west and the rest of the West Carpathians in the north and east. The border to the Danube plain extends approximately along the line Bratislava - Senec - Sered - Nové Zámky - Patince.

The soil consists of various rock types (clay, gravel, sand ), which are of Quaternary sediments such as loess and very fertile soils ( black and brown soils ) covered.

The main cities provide Trnava, Topoľčany, Nitra, Levice, Dudince and Štúrovo dar.

The Danube hill country of the rivers Vah, Nitra, Žitava, Hron and Ipeľ divided into the following 11 geomorphic parts ( divided from west to east ):

  • Trnavská pahorkatina ( Trnava hills )
  • Dolnovážska niva (lower scale level)
  • Nitrianska pahorkatina ( Nitransky hill country)
  • Nitrianska niva ( Nitransky hall)
  • Žitavská pahorkatina ( Žitavaer hill country)
  • Žitavská niva ( Žitavaer hall)
  • Hronská pahorkatina ( Graner hill country)
  • Hronská niva ( Graner hall)
  • Čenkovská niva ( Čenkover hall)
  • Ipeľská pahorkatina ( Eipeler hill country)
  • Ipeľská niva ( Eipeler hall)

The above-mentioned corridors have abundant underground water reservoirs, other water storage also exist in the city Dudince.

In the area there are a number of small nature reserves. The wetlands were asked, for example, in the PARIZ - bogs ( Parížske močiare ) under protection. There are also different types of sand grass or forest levels as Čenkovská step or Chotínske piesky and many protected residuals or still originally preserved oak forests ( in Dubník or Vŕšok ).
