Darryl Laplante

Darryl Laplante ( born March 28, 1977 in Calgary, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played during his active career, among other things for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League.

Career

Darryl Laplante played from 1994 to 1997 for the Moose Jaw Warriors in the Canadian top junior Western Hockey League. NHL Entry Draft 1995, he was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the third round at position 58. 1996 Laplante was honored for special humanitarian behavior with the Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy. In the 1997/98 season he made his debut for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League, but almost the entire season spent in the center of the farm team for the Adirondack Red Wings of the American Hockey League. In the following two years he did not make the breakthrough in Detroit and came in 35 games for the Red Wings to six assists, but remained without a goal. Laplante has held the role of Checkers, whose job it was to wear down the opponent's attacks. Then he played in the AHL for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and the Cleveland Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League.

When NHL Expansion Draft 2000, he was selected in June 2000 by the Minnesota Wild. Laplante never came to Minnesota in the NHL used and played in the 2001/ 02 season for the Houston Aeros in the AHL. In March 2002 he was transferred to the Boston Bruins and came in twelve games in the farm team Providence Bruins used. In August 2002, he signed as a free agent contract with the Augusta Lynx in the East Coast Hockey League. There he came to 19 inserts and scored six points before Laplante was delivered to the Jackson Bandits in November 2002. The season 2003/ 04 he spent at the Reading Royals, before he ended his career after nine games and four points.
