Dave Archibald

David J. Archibald ( born April 14, 1969 in Chilliwack, British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach, who in his active years from 1983 to 2000 among others for the Minnesota North Stars, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators and New York Islanders in the National Hockey League and the Frankfurt Lions played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Dave Archibald began his career as a hockey player with the Portland Winter Hawks, for which he was active from 1983 to 1987 in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League. In 1987 he received the Brad Hornung Trophy as sporty fairest player in the Western Conference of the WHL. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1987 in the first round as a whole sixth player of the Minnesota North Stars. For the North Stars winger was in the 1987/88 season his debut in the National Hockey League. In his rookie year he scored 13 goals in 78 games and 20 assists. On November 1, 1989 he was given in exchange for Jay More at the New York Rangers. In the 1989/90 season, he completed a total of 19 games in the NHL for the New York Rangers, but spent most of the season with their farm team in Flint Spirits of the International Hockey League. From 1990 to 1992 he took part in the Olympic preparation with Team Canada.

From 1992 to 1996 Archibald was active for the newly formed Ottawa Senators in the NHL. In his last year with the Senators, he also played in parallel in 19 games for the IHL Utah Grizzlies team. The 1996/97 season began, the Canadian with the New York Islanders. After seven point-less inserts in the NHL, he was obliged by the Frankfurt Lions of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. For Hesse, he scored a total of 43 games in 36 scorer points, including 14 goals. From 1997 to 1999 ever played one year in the IHL for the San Antonio Dragons as well as his ex-team Utah Grizzlies. The 1999/2000 season began the Olympians 1992 at Linköpings HC in the Swedish Elitserien. There he broke his contract in February 2000, prematurely, to switch to the Utah Grizzlies in the IHL. At the end of the season, he finished his career at the age of 31 years.

In the 2009/10 season Archibald worked as an assistant coach for the Chilliwack Bruins of the junior Western Hockey League.

Internationally

For Canada Archibald participated in the Olympic Winter Games in 1992 in part in Albertville, where he won the silver medal with his team. He was charged with seven hits along with three other players top scorer of the tournament. Previously, he had already won at the 1991 World Championships with Canada the silver medal.
