Dave Hannan

David Patrick " Dave" Hannan (* November 26, 1961 in Greater Sudbury, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who, in his playing days from 1977 to 1997 among others for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators played in the National Hockey League.

Career

Dave Hannan began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey Association, in which he. 1977-1980 Windsor Spitfires for, Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds and Brantford Alexanders was active. He then played for the Brantford one year in succession League of OHA, the Ontario Hockey League. Following his junior time the winger in the NHL Entry Draft, was selected in the tenth round than a total of 196 players in 1981 by the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he came from 1981 to 1987 in the National Hockey League action. In his first four seasons, he was also a regular for Pittsburgh farm team, the Erie Blades and Baltimore Skipjacks, in the American Hockey League on. On November 24, 1987, he was released along with Craig Simpson, Moe Mantha and Chris Joseph in exchange for Paul Coffey, Dave Hunter and Wayne Van Dorp to the Edmonton Oilers. With the Oilers he won in season 1987/88 right off the bat the prestigious Stanley Cup. For this success he added, with a total of 22 points scorer, of which ten goals in 63 games.

For the 1988/89 season Hannan returned to his former club Pittsburgh Penguins. He then spent three years at the Canadian tradition Team Toronto Maple Leafs and was discharged therefrom in March 1992 in exchange for a fifth- round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 1992 to the Buffalo Sabres. There he spent four seasons before he was transferred on 20 March 1996, shortly before the end of the Trade Deadline against a sixth- round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 1996 to the Colorado Avalanche. With these he won at the end of the season for the second time in his career, the Stanley Cup. In 17 games for the Avalanche, he had scored a goal and added two assists. As a free agent of Canadians signed on 13 September 1996 a contract with the Ottawa Senators, with whom he finished his career at the age of 35 years at the end of the 1996/97 season.

Internationally

For Canada Hannan participated in Albertville at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games. He scored three goals in eight games and had five assists. Previously he came for the national team to three test stakes during the Olympic preparation.
