David Wain

David Wain ( born August 1, 1969 as David Benjamin Wain in Shaker Heights, Ohio ) is an American actor, film producer, screenwriter, director and comedian.

Life and career

David Wain was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio in 1969 and grew up there. He attended New York City's Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, where he founded together with friends the comedy group The New Group in October 1988. The group played skits and performed in short films, with Wain chance used in addition to write the screenplay and conduct directed. After completion, the group was renamed The State and they received a series on MTV. Included, inter alia, Michael Ian Black, Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino and Kerri Kenney to this group. From 1993 to 1995 he wrote the screenplay for 27 episodes and was responsible as a director. After the sketch show moved to CBS, the group broke up in friendship.

In the comedy Keeping the Faith! with Edward Norton, Ben Stiller and Jenna Elfman in the leading roles, Wain played the role of Steve Posner. As a director for a film he was first introduced in 2001 behind the camera. He has worked for the film Wet Hot American Summer with former colleagues from The State and others like Marguerite Moreau, Janeane Garofalo, Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper and Elizabeth Banks together. The case received their first major film roles.

In 2002, he was with his friends Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter in the comedy Stella Shorts 1998-2002 front of the camera.
