Genesis

During the tour for the previous album the band began writing material for the album, which then became Days Go By. In May 2009, the collaboration with Bob Rock was announced for the next album in an interview. Also said frontman Dexter Holland in another interview that they wanted to try that it should not take that long again until the release of the next album. In the fall of 2009, the preliminary work began, however, there was at that time only a few demo recordings. In mid-2010, the band was already on and working in the studio. The original target release date of 2010, however, you could not keep. However, the band spoke highly of the cooperation with Bob Rock:

"Working with Bob Rock HAS BEEN the best experience did we have had in the studio. Bob is obviously a great producer, but beyond did Bob and we get along and sort of see the record making process similarly .. the songs sometimes take a little longer to finish but the end result is far better for taking the time and is something we 're very proud of. "

"

With Pete Parada is heard on the album, a new drummer. Some pieces were also still played by session drummer Josh Freese, who worked on the previous albums for the band.

Criticism

Kai Butterweck of laut.de sees split the album. On the one hand are titles such as Cruising California or OC Guns ' trimmed on young hops balderdash "and" patch hollow brain trips ", but he praises the arrangements and said that" they [ The Offspring ] but now must hide nor established before mid-tempo rock broadband colleagues ".

Matthias Reichel awards on cdstarts.de 6.5 out of 10 and sees the album in line with the previous albums. He draws the conclusion that The Offspring submit a " routine- album ", "the course can not compete with the youthful energy of their early works, but still more has relevance, as the great mass publication in the punk rock sector."

Peter Ehmann records Undergrounded.de a somewhat more positive picture, you have to " Days go by " "... really just punk anthems with catchy tune. Some open up one after the second hearing, but already there you can sing the chorus guaranteed. " ( Rating 8 out of 10 points. )

Success

Despite the conflicting reviews, the album was quite high place in the charts.
