All monetary amounts in play are known and are displayed on a display panel. However, it is not known which case contains what amounts.

To find out what amounts are not in the suitcase that the candidate has chosen, can successively open first six of the remaining cases of the candidate. The sums of money thereby come to light, are eliminated from the game and be hidden on the scoreboard.

Then makes the "Bank" the candidate an offer for his selected case. The amount of the offer depends on the amounts that are still in the game. Thus the range of falls from high, if high amounts are still in the game and are possibly located in the selected case.

If the candidate on the deal, the game ends and he gets the prize offered by the Bank. Rejects the candidate, the game continues and there are more cases open until the bankers again makes a new offer, is to decide on that. In this case, fewer and fewer cases are opened each round. Sold the candidate his trunk to the end not to the bank, it shall receive the amount therein.

Overview of the Länder reactions

The offer of the Bank

The offer of the bank after each round does not follow a recognizable formula. However, it is selected in the early rounds so that it is well below the average value of the remaining cases. The statistically expected profit ( expected value ) in the selected case is therefore higher than the safe range of the bank. For this reason, it is advantageous in the early rounds to turn down the offer, bringing a premature end of the show is avoided.
