Dean Melanson

Dean Melanson ( born November 13, 1973 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who spent ten seasons in the American Hockey League and two in the National Hockey League. In Germany, he played two seasons in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga for the Iserlohn Roosters and the Kassel Huskies.

Career

Dean Melanson began his career with 17 years at the Saint- Hyacinthe Laser in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Immediately after his first season, he was elected to the team's best rookies. The defender stayed two more years, in which he collected next scorer points also a high number of penalty minutes. In the NHL Entry Draft in 1992, he was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the fourth round to 80th place.

1993 Melanson gave in the Playoffs of the American Hockey League made ​​his professional debut with the Rochester Americans.
