Décines-Charpieu

Décines -Charpieu is a commune with 25 794 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Rhône, Rhône- Alpes. It is located in the arrondissement of Lyon and is the capital of the canton Décines -Charpieu. Décines -Charpieu can be counted in the banlieue of Lyon. The community is located about twelve kilometers east of the center of Lyon. The inhabitants are called Décinois or Décinoises.

Geography

The community from the Canal de Jonage is located below the Rhône flows through connecting the Rhone meets the artificially dammed Réservoir du Grand- Large. To the north is bordered Décines -Charpieu to Miribel in the department of Ain, on the east by Meyzieu, to the south by Chassieu, on the southwest by Bron and to the west by Vaulx -en- Velin.

History
