Demjata
Demjata ( until 1927 slovak " Demjaty " or " Demiata "; Hungarian Deméte ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 1091 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) kraj Okres in Prešov, Prešov, and is part of the traditional landscape Saris counted.
Geography
The municipality is located below the West lobe of the Low Beskid both sides of the river Sekčov. The center is located at an altitude of 299 m nm and is 17 km from Prešov and 24 km from Bardejov away.
History
The town was first mentioned in 1330 as DEMETA writing. Initially, the village belonged to the manor of Burg damage Rosch, from the 15th century, the landed gentry, as Bornemisza in the 16th or Botchkay in the 17th century. After a tax register a tax of 17 Porta was due in 1427. 1689 the village was deserted. 1828 are listed 75 houses and 553 inhabitants. The main sources of income were agriculture and sheep farm in the 19th century also a quarry was active. At this time Demjata suffered from poverty and emigration.
Until 1918, belonged to the county located in the Saddle Rosh place the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia and Slovakia today. Today, part of the population commutes to work or to Prešov Košice.

Infrastructure
In Demjata there is a kindergarten, a primary school and it is a cultural center operated. Through the town the provincial road 545 ( Kapušany - Bardejov ) and the railway line runs Kapušany pri - Prešove Bardejov (stops Demjata and Demjata obec ).
