Democratic Party (Bulgaria)

The Democratic Party ( Bulgarian Демократическа партия ), short DP, is one of the oldest political parties in Bulgaria. It was founded in 1895 as a successor to the out of Petko Karawelows left wing of the old Liberal Party ( Bulg Либерална Партия ). The first chairman was Petko Karavelov. Their leaders usually had studied in the West, or were disposed to pro-Western. The newspaper Prjapowez ( Bulg " Пряпорец " ) was considered her body.

History

In 1905, a split wing of the party, who then founded the Radical Democratic Party. 1941 rejected the party from the offering of the Bulgarian Communist Party to join the coalition Fatherland Front ( Bulg Отечествен фронт ). In 1947, she was then banned.

On 19 December 1989, the Demokraticeska Partija was revived. She joined the oppositional alliance with United Democratic Forces.

In the parliamentary elections of 2009, said the party leadership, without a resolution of the Party Assembly for the support of the coalition of the two parties of the same name " Lider - Nowoto Wreme ".
