Player Profile
Diego Lugano is a two combative and quite prolific football players and this as a central defender. He always shows tireless efforts, but often at the sporting legality border, so that the center-back is often an unpopular player or opponent at opposing fans and teams.
Career
In the club
Diego Lugano began his professional career in 1999 in Uruguay Nacional Montevideo, for whom he played until 2000. Before he first moved to Plaza Colonia, the central defender came back in 2003 for a short time at Nacional Montevideo to switch then to the Brazilian first division side FC São Paulo.
With SPFC he won in 2005, the State of São Paulo championship, the Copa Libertadores and the Club World Cup by defeating Liverpool in the final. Diego Lugano was looking for a new challenge and joined in August 2011 for a transfer fee of about 2.92 million euros for very ambitious French first division side Paris Saint- Germain with a three-year contract.
On January 23, 2013 Lugano joined on loan until end of season without option to buy the Spanish side Málaga CF. When the Spaniards he came to eleven season assignments in the league; to a game, he completed all the games as a member of the starting eleven.
